Tatran will play in the semi-finals — 05.10.2012

Tatran´s solid performance against RSU/Inspecta took them to the Champions Cup semi-final. Tatran will play against SPV or Dalen in the semi-final starting at 20.10 tomorrow.

Johan Von der Pahlen, who played his first match in the CC, got an excellent start to his tournament by scoring the opening goal for Tatran after seven minutes.

RSU/Inspecta played without their number one goalie, Andis Blinds, who injured his shoulder in yesterday´s match and Edgars Gailitis played in the RSU/Inspecta goalie.

The Czechs possessed the ball when RSU/Inspecta´s tactic relied more on a controlled dice five defence waiting for the opponents mistakes. This resulted in some good counter attacks and Edzus Bunka took advantage of one of them, evening the score to 1-1. Before the intermission, Tatran took the lead again through Milan Fridrich´s one-timer on power play.

Tatran settled the match in the second period

Tatran´s 3rd goal was one of the pretties of the tournament, Martin Richter, being the player finalising the nice passing combination into an empty net. The RSU goalie was also outplayed in Tatran´s next goal and Tomas Ondrusek could easily increase the lead to 4-1.

RSU came back once more with Janis Levanovics´s goal, but the Czechs took more and more control of the match and had a safe 8-3 lead in the start of the third period.

Milan Fridrich (in photo) finalised his hat-trick in the third period and when RSU/Inspecta had given up, the final score was 11-4 to Tatran. Milan Fridrich was also elected Tatran´s best player.
