Canada defeats Singapore – 03.12.2016

Canadian team started tournament against Singapore. In tough game Canada reached 2-1 (1-0, 1-0, 0-1) victory.

At the first period the North American team showed more of a quality game. Canadians created few chances and were able to take the lead 14:22 in the first period when Brandon Barber scored the opening goal with an incredible shot. Later in the period, Singapore tried to equalize  on a breakaway but had their great chance saved by Taylor Retta-Shippon in the last seconds.

Period  two continued with goal-less action. Singaporean attacks were perfectly stopped by goalkeeper Retta-Shipp. Meanwhile the Canadian offense were lucky to score their second goal after bad mistake from the Singaporean goalkeeper.  In the middle of the period Singapore had great opportunity to score their first tournament goal but Syazni Ramlee lost his 1-on-1 battle against the Canadian goalkeeper.

The Canadian team continued showing an excellent defensive game during the third period.  The North Americans controlled the game rhythm and tried to score their third goal. When it was 52:57, Singapore finally scored and came back to the game with 1-2. Singapore was close to equalize in the end. The game ended with a low score of 1-2 with the Canadians taking home their first win of the tournament.
