EOTO Seminar in Ukraine – 26.10.2017

The Ukrainian Floorball Federation and the Finnish Floorball Federation have been Each One – Teach One partners since December 2014 and there have been several smaller projects between these two IFF member associations.

From 8th to 9th of September there was a seminar in conjunction with the General Assembly of the Ukrainian Floorball Federation in Kiev. The seminar was built on topics regarding the club development and the governance of the clubs in the national association. Mrs. Mervi Kilpikoski and Mr. Mika Saastamoinen, from the Finnish Floorball Federation had very interesting two days set for the Ukrainian participants, who represented the Floorball clubs in Ukraine.

There was also a few hours set for the Good Governance in the clubs and in the national federation mainly concentrating on association governance, issues related to conflict of interest and also a short part of the problems of match fixing. That session was carried out by Mr. Veli Halonen from the IFF office.

-This was really positive experience for us also, we were not only teaching, we were also learning, says Mrs. Mervi Kilpikoski, the Development Manager of the Finnish Floorball Federation.

-This seminar also gave us the idea once again, what it was like, to be in Floorball in Finland twenty years ago. Same kind of problems as we had in the early days and of course our aim is to help the Ukrainians not to make the same mistakes as we did back then. That’s why EOTO is a very useful project for both the smaller and the bigger IFF member associations, she continues.

The IFF also had a short Good Governance seminar in Ukraine in October 2016 and this seminar was a great opportunity to continue the extraordinary work the Ukrainian Floorball Federation has been doing for the past few years, says Mr. Veli Halonen from the IFF office.

-We will definitely continue the process with the Ukrainian Floorball Federation and hopefully we can soon get the IFF member associations from the surrounding countries to be involved with these projects even more, he concludes.
