The first qualification match between USA and Canada ended with 11-6 victory for Canada. The second match was more controlled game and despite the good fight of USA, Canada took the victory again. The score was 6-4 and this confirmed the WFC Final round place for Canada.
Risto Parikka and Patrice Pare took the lead for Canada in the first period, but USA came back to the match on the 2nd period by equalizing the score to 2-2. After that Patrick Ducharme scored 3-2 on power play and Lauri Hannelius increased the lead for two goals again.
USA fought hard all the way to the end and Karl Förare reduced the lead twice, but every time Canada scored again. Jean Sebastien Plante sealed the match with 6-4 goal when eight minutes was left and since no more goals were seen, Canada took the spot in the WFC Final round.
