SB-Pro and Classic Finnish Champions 2018! – 23.04.2018

The Finnish Superfinals were played in Hartwall Arena, Helsinki on Saturday 21st of April. SB-Pro and Classic became champions and also secured their tickets to the Champions Cup 2019 in Gävle, Sweden.

SB-Pro Women’s Champions after a thrilling match

In the Women’s Superfinal, last season’s finalists met once again. Classic had won the regular season and were slight favourites to raise the cup once again. The first period didn’t bring any goals, but in the second period Classic took a 2-0 lead due to powerplays.  Both goals were scored by #8 Ella Alanko. Before the period ended, SB-Pro’s young talent, 18-year-old #14 Jenni Torkki had evened the score. Dangerous scoring chances were seen throughout the match. With only few minutes left of the match, Czech national team player #24 Denisa Ratajova scored the winning goal for SB-Pro on powerplay. SB-Pro celebrated the championship after a three-year break.

Classic Men´s Champions for the third time in a row

In the Men’s Superfinal the reigning champions Classic faced Happee. Classic weren’t awake at first and Happee used this to their benefit. After the first period Happee were in a 2-0 lead. In the second period Happee suffered a few unfortunate injuries. Classic had woken up during the period break and first #9 Eemeli Salin evened the score with two goals and at the end of the period the rest of his team had taken them to a 4-2 lead. In the third period Happee tried their best to even the score, but the closest they got was a goalpost. In the end Classic sealed the deal with two empty-netters and celebrated their third championship in a row with a 6-2 victory.
