WOMEN´S U19 WFC 2018 Qualifications - Team Presentations – 05.09.2017

8th Women´s U19 World Floorball Championships 2018 Qualifications will be held in Linz, Austria on the 8th - 10th of September 2017.

A total of 18 teams have registered for the 8th Women´s U19 World Floorball Championships. This is the most ever registrations for this event and will be the first time that a qualification has been held for this event.

Australia, Italy, The Netherlands & New Zealand will all be competing for the first time in the Women´s U19s.

The Final Round will be played in St. Gallen and Herisau, Switzerland, and is made of up 8 teams in A-division & 8 teams in B-division. All A-division teams, as well as six B-division teams have directly qualified, based on results from the Women´s U19 WFC 2016 and regional quotas. The remaining 2 spots in the B-division will be determined via a qualification event in Europe, between Austria, The Netherlands, Russia & Italy.

AUSTRIA

Team Austria is built around structure and creativity. It is almost a totally new team from last world championship, but the goal for the team is to qualify and take part in Switzerland.

Players to watch

Rebecca Kuzel: She is a creative player who always want to score.
Michelle Steiner: A powerful player with a great knowledge of Floorball.
Sarah Trenker: A complete Floorball player who plays as good defence as offense

ITALY

This is the first time that Italy registers a team in the Women´s U19 World Floorball Championships. The objective is to be an example for the future young female Italian athletes and to qualify to the WFC in Switzerland.

Players to watch

Camilla Olshov: A young player who has already made her debut in the senior national team. Good game vision and technique are her main strengths.
Martina Ortolan: She has played floorball many years and improves her skills at every occasion. Player with good scoring qualities.
Eugenia Barbato: She is a new player who recently began to play floorball, showing how much you can improve if you really want to.

THE NETHERLANDS

The team, nicknamed "flooballmeiden" (floorball girls in Dutch) started as a training group in 2013 with the goal to play at the U19 WFC 2018. In January 2015, a U17 team was formed with monthly trainings and a yearly training camp or tournament abroad. In January 2017, the team participated in Gothia Innebandy Cup (Sweden) with good results. They continued as U19 with special focus on the WFCQ. Every training contains physical, tactical and mental aspects. An individual training schedule is part of the training program. The team feels strong and is very eager to qualify to the WFC in St. Gallen.

Players to watch

Inge van Dam: She is the team´s tower of strength. Inge doesn´t fear ball or player and she has great reflexes. In the team for almost three years, and with her newly gained experience at goalie camp she surprises both teammates and opponents.
Loena van Rooijen: She works hard on the midfield where she is very successful. Loena always wants to win fights and create her own actions. She can score from everywhere.
Marissa Meijer: When you see her playing, you will be a fan immediately. She´s got fantastic technical skills and she can read the game very well. Always ready to help, gives the perfect assist of scores herself.

RUSSIA

Completely updated team, which returns after 10 years. New methods of training, talented young players and experienced coaches, as a step to restarting all women´s floorball in Russia.

Players to watch

Anastasiia Bulbash: The leader of the main national team, the best young player of the Russian championship. Can win the match herself.
Sofia Rumiantseva-Mishina: One of the best strikers of the Russian championship U19. It is distinguished by high efficiency and "sense of goal".
Valentina Strygina: A young and talented goalkeeper who stands out for her excellent reaction and efficiency. She has international experience.
