Floorball Philippines continues to develop — 31.07.2012
Floorball Philippines have been busy in the last couple of months conducting Floorball demonstrations, participating in a Floorball coaching course in Singapore, distributing new equipment to schools and launching a new website. Also in July, the University of Philippines Floorball League began its third season. ICA Sports Club plays Floorball FP participated in the SFA/SSC Floorball Coaching Course The course provided a lot of theoretical and practical information in teaching and coaching Floorball, which are very easy to understand for beginner level players. Common problems and issues in Floorball coaching (i.e., handling youth teams, incorrect handling of stick, etc.) were also addressed and explained. The coaching course opened up a great opportunity to develop the sport in the Philippines in the correct way, with a good foundation for the development of local Floorball players. 400 Sticks and Balls sent by IFF to the Philippines

conducted a Floorball demonstration introducing the sport to its Sports club class, facilitated by Ms. Amanda Isada, PE instructor at ICA. The high school students learned basic floorball skills such as proper stick handling and stance, ball dribbling, shooting, and passing. After the drills, the girls were challenged to a mini Floorball tournament where they applied all the skills they learned during the session. Floorball was received with enthusiasm by the students and FP is looking forward to Floorball being included in the school’s Sports Club program soon.
Floorball Philippines, in cooperation with the IFF, continues to spread Floorball to the different regions in the country by launching its long-term project that will introduce the sport to key schools and institutions in the country. The project aims to include Floorball in the Physical education, co-curricular club, or after-school programs of at least 100 schools nationwide. Among the recepients of the Floorball equipment are: Ateneo de Manila High School, Colegio San Agustin, and Davao City.
