The coolest 300 metres — 19.06.2012
The coolest 300 meters you can run there in Clydebank, north of Glasgow,if you ask the Danish floorball player Annika Bengtsson. On Saturday the 9th of June at 08:45 in the morning she took the tour, wearing the official white tracksuit having the Olympic torch in her right hand.
-"It was really an amazing experience with lots of clapping spectators on the route and I also had my mother, grandmother and sister among the spectators. Many wanted to touch both the torch and have autographs from me, so I felt really special", says Annika Bengtsson.
She has been aware of her choice to be in the torch relay for a bit more than six months. She was selected by the Danish Sports Federation to run with the torch.
-"I felt really nervous before my run and my hands were shaking and my legs didn’t work quite the way they did in a floorball rink, but no one could wipe the smile out of my face", she continued.
Annika Bengtsson has been a top player in the Danish women’s national team for several years from 2001 on and now she has put her experience to use as a coach. She was part of the Danish coaching team during the WU19 WFC Final Round in Nitra Slovakia in May, when the Danish girls were able to make their way to the A-division for the 2014 WU19 WFC.
