System for adult Floorball World Championships since 2013/4

All teams apart from the organiser will have to qualify through qualification tournaments for the Men´s 2014 World Floorball Championships 2014 and starting from the Women´s WFC 2013 a new WFC playing system is implemented. The aim with the new playing system is to have more even and important matches played during the WFC group stage.

New playing system for WFC, starting with Women´s WFC 2013

An improved WFC playing system shall be implemented, starting from WFC 2013. It will include a new division of the teams between the groups according to ranking, as well a new first play-off round, giving more teams the possibility to play in the quarter-finals.

The composition of the groups starting from WFC 2013 will look as follows:

Group AGroup B
Team ranked 1-4Team ranked 1-4
Team ranked 1-4Team ranked 1-4
Team ranked 5-8Team ranked 5-8
Team ranked 5-8Team ranked 5-8

Group CGroup D
Team ranked 9-12Team ranked 9-12
Team ranked 9-12Team ranked 9-12
Team ranked 13-16Team ranked 13-16
Team ranked 13-16Team ranked 13-16

The two best teams of group A and B go directly to the quarter-final. Teams placed 3rd and 4th in group A and B and the teams placed 1st and 2nd in group C and D make it to the first playoff round (played before the quarter-finals). This gives more even and important matches in the group stage and four additional teams the opportunity to play in the play-offs.

The Women´s WFC 2013 is played in Brno and Ostrava, Czech Republic.

New WFC Qualification system, starting from 2014

All teams apart from the organiser should qualify for the Adult WFC, this will be installed from the Men´s World Floorball Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, 2014.

The WFC Quota system will be changed so that the quota is depending on the number of teams actually participating in the event and that the registration only gives the preliminary quota. Additionally, countries from new continents shall have to qualify and not be given a direct spot in the Final round.
