Storvreta gets revenge on Tatran — 03.10.2012

Like in the last year´s Champions Cup, Storvreta and Tatran met each other in the first group match. Last year Tatran won the match 6-4 but this time the tables turned.

Storvreta was the team with more possession in the start, but Tatran was the team creating the best scoring opportunities, mostly through their counter attacks.

Storvreta could however also create a couple of great opportunities through their efficient passing play and Hannes Öhman had a great chance to score the opening goal from the slot, but he missed.

Surprisingly the first goal of the match was scored in box play. The goal scorer was however no surprise, as the sniper Henrik Stenberg scored the opening goal of the tournament, 1-0 for Storvreta after 20 minutes.

Storvreta´s second goal was scored by Kristoffer Svensson on a rebound. Tomas Kafka was able to save the first shot by Niklas Winroth, but didn´t have time to react to the rebound.

The first power play opportunity for Storvreta was in 33.33. There were some nice passing combinations, but Kafka survived. Storvreta was the team getting more and more possession, but the score remained 2-0 after the second period.

2+0 for Stenberg

H. Stenberg

Stenberg´s second goal in 44.48 was a nice one-timer, Hannes Öhman giving the decisive pass. Just when it seemed as if the game would be settled, Tatran´s Marek Vávra reduced the score to 1-3 with five minutes left of the match.

Tatran pressured aggressively during the minutes that remained and in 58.50 this led to a penalty against Storvreta. Tatran then played without goalie 6 vs.4, trying desperately to score, but this resulted in an empty net goal for Joakim Olsson. Final result, 4-1 to Storvreta.

The players of the match were Viktor Klinsten and Martin Richter.
