IKSU hitting double digits and play in the final — 06.10.2012

IKSU´s high pressure game didn´t give Piranha a chance in the first women´s semi-final. IKSU won the match 11-4 and will play in tomorrow´s final starting at 13.10.

IKSU was the team taking charge of the match from start. When IKSU got a power play opportunity in 1.09 it only took one second for Emelie Wibron to score the first goal.

The high fore checking by the Swedes forced Piranha to make mistakes in their own zone, the second goal scored by Frida Rydfjäll was a result of this. During IKSU´s second power play opportunity, Josefina Eiremo first had a reaIly good opportunity to score, but just couldn´t get the ball in. IKSU´s next attempt succeeded, when Wibron´s long distance shot increased the lead to 3-0.

Emma Hellberg scored IKSU´s fourth in 11.37 and Piranha was in real trouble. But a power play goal by Mirca Anderegg gave the Swiss some hope for the second period.

Hat-trick for Wibron

Piranha had their momentum in the second period when Seraina Ulber reduced the lead to 2-5 and three minutes later Natalie Stadelmann utilised a power play opportunity.

But Piranha continuously had trouble in getting out of their own zone and it was only a question of time when IKSU would score next. During an IKSU power play Wibron´s trademark, a precise long distance shot, increased the lead to three goals again. This was Wibron´s third.

Therese Andersson, who had had plenty of chances to score finally succeeded in the end of the second period, IKSU was in a safe lead. With Emma Hellberg´s second goal, the score after two periods was already 8-3 for IKSU.

In the third period IKSU increased the lead to a convincing 11-4 and will now face Classic or Herbadent in tomorrow´s final.

Ulber and Wibron were elected best players.
