Floorball – Mr. Stefan Kratz

Dear Mr. Kratz:

Re: Membership of IWGA

We are in receipt of your application for membership. Regretfully we must inform you that the Executive Committee decided to continue with the moratorium on the processing of these applications until such time as it is able to formulate how new members will have  a genuine opportunity of seeing their sports actually feature on the program of future World Games. This will not be the case for The World Games 2009 Kaohsiung.

Participation in the eighth edition is capped by the organizers at 3,200 athletes. Although this is an increase of more then 6%, even the current 32 members of the IWGA, who have already indicated that they wish to see their sports included in The World Games 2009, will be hard pressed to get by with this allocation.

I am sure you will all agree that it is not fair to existing or new members to accept their annual contributions while there is no possibility for their sports to actually feature in World Games events.

The ExCo will continue to address the issues of expansion of the IWGA membership and future growth of The World Games in which a wide variety of aspects will be considered including the post-event evaluations of World Games 2005 in Duisburg. We expect the new elected ExCo to be able to identify the policy that will best serve the interest of The World Games and have it enforced prior to the selection of the city that will host the ninth edition in 2013.

Please note that once the IWGA has identified and approved the policies, all those applicants that have already applied will receive the information from Headquarters and have the opportunity to once again make an application.

We thank you for your patience and look forward to being of service to you.

Kind regards

International World Games Association
